I have become a big fan of avocado oil recently and use it everywhere including my face, body and cooking.
I mix a few drops of avocado oil in my facial serum and apply in the morning for skin elasticity, protection against sun damages and added moisture.
I also add some to my body lotion for elasticity and hydration.
Skin benefits
Avocado oil can penetrate thru the epidermis and into the dermal layer of skin, which most moisturizers and oils can't. I think that is why it does not feel greasy upon applying because it gets absorbed better than other oils. Avocado oil helps with dry, flaky skin and sunburn. I apply it on my elbow where I have dry patches. Consistent use over time can reduce the appearance of minor sun damage, age spots and scarring.
Proteins found in avocado oil combined with the various amino acids are excellent for tissue regeneration and cell renewal. It enhances the production of collagen. Vitamins A and D in avocado oil, can also promote collagen production and binding.
The beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E found in avocado oil help moisturize and protect your skin from damaging UV rays. Now, you see why I add this to my facial moisturizer. I love, love this oil for my skin!
Lowers cholesterol
High in monounsaturated fats and low in saturated fats, it can help lower low density lipid (LDL) or “bad” cholesterol levels.
Good for the heart
High in potassium and vitamin E, it keeps the blood vessels healthy by eliminating free radicals. avocado oil is an anti-inflammatory which can help to prevent damage to arterial walls, reducing the risk of heart disease. And it is always better to take vitamin E from a natural source.
Helps detox
Chlorophyll, a natural source of magnesium, in avocado oil, naturally cleanses heavy metals like mercury and lead from the liver, kidneys, brain and other organs.
Great for cooking
Avocado oil has higher smoke point than olive oil thus is good for high-heat cooking such as stir-frying. It can be cooked at a high temperature without breaking down and losing its health benefits as many other oils do.
Also, the oleic acid in avocado oil is highly resistant to oxidation. It will stay longer without going rancid compared to other oils in the kitchen.
